Virtual Girls Night Out - Burning Diaries and The Rock Is Back!

I did something yesterday that was necessary for me, but not understood by most.  I burned my diaries.

While up in the attic, searching for our Christmas decorations, I came across my journals from the ages 17 to 22.  I sat on the cold floor and read them.  I laughed at some things, cringed at most, and was depressed when I got to the end.  Reliving those times really isn't necessary.  Oh, I'll share more later, but for now it is done - burned - ashes - done.  So I'm going to celebrate at our Virtual Girls Night Out!

*The Virtual Girls Night Out is for those that don't have a chance to get out of the house but still want to "hang with their friends". So, make yourself a cocktail, put on something cozy and have fun. Leave a comment to let us know you stopped by. We'll visit your blog and say "Happy VGNO!"*

Time For Some Tunes!

R.E.M. "We All Go Back To Where We Belong"

No matter how new their songs are, I will hear R.E.M. and "be" 17 to 22.  I love them.  They are good therapy.

Time For A Cocktail!

Ingredients:
1/3 shot Kahlua
1/3 shot Bailey’s Irish Cream
1/3 shot Tequila (white)
1 dash cinnamon
Directions:
Carefully layer this shot with Kahlua on the bottom, Bailey’s in the middle, and tequila on top. Light the tequila on fire and sprinkle with cinnamon. Down it. It’s just like warm pumpkin pie.

I say 'Heck Ya'!'  Sounds delicious!!!

Time For The Traveling Heart-Shaped Rock Project!

My dear blog buddies that have participated in the blog photo project are sharing the most endearing pictures that I get overwhelmed and cry.  These are happy tears.  My intention for this project was to create a bond, to somehow share a positive energy with our little "gem" from the Oregon Coast.  And I believe it's working! Here's the last visit with Nicki:
Nicki's an EMT :->
You MUST visit Nicki's blog "Diaries of a Neurotic Non-Trad" (diary!!!) and see all of her photos. You must! So wonderful.  I received a message from Renee at "Until Something Shiny Comes Along" saying that our rock arrived safely at her place in Washington State.  On and on we go!  Would you like to participate in the Traveling Heart-Shaped Rock Project?  Click here for the information.

Alright my dear blog buddies.  Have a wonderful time at our Virtual Girls Night Out.  Leave a comment to let us know you stopped by.  (We'll visit you too :->)

Miss Poodle Perm, That's Me!

Jill of Scary Mommy is doing a linky post about school pictures. You know the ones, possibly you didn't smile a sweet smile, just the smirk of panic. Or you didn't know it was picture day because you had been out sick for a week and you show up in your most comfortable shirt and bed-head. (Yep. That happened to me. The smile was good though!)

Well, my scanner isn't working or else I would post a particular picture from Freshman year. Since I don't have a visual, here's the story:

I remember my first day of High School. Actually what I remember is the picture taken of me leaving for my first day of High School. I'm wearing a brave smile, but the hair, the hair, my hair style was a nightmare.
My two best friends and I were going to be attending a High School out of our district. That was stressful enough. To add to this new-ness we wanted new looks as well. K. was going to sport the Argyle and Alligator shirt look. W. was going for 'All Monogrammed, Al…

How to Find the Safest Gear for your Baby

Nothing compares to the joys of being a parent. Having a newborn in the family brings couples closer and makes the entire household more cheerful and interesting. But as we all know, being a parent is not just about spending time with your baby. More than anything else, it also requires exerting a lot of effort to make sure that your baby is always safe and free from potential hazards. To further help you in this endeavor, here are some useful tips for finding the safest gear for your baby as you go through various baby product guides:

Opt for a non-toxic gear. The first thing you need to check is the composition of the safety gear. What is the material made from? Is it non-toxic? Be sure that it is because babies have a strong tendency to put everything they see or touch in their mouths. It goes without saying that a safety gear that is made from toxic materials could poison your baby, in the long run, so be very careful about the safety gears you purchase.
Make sure it is sturdy. The …

Yes, I'm a Dork for the Grocery Outlet

So our neighborhood was notified that a Grocery Outlet - Bargain Market would be opening in the new year.  I can't tell you how thrilled I was to hear this!  And when I received my friendly Grocery Outlet postcard with my friendly notice of the friendly festivities for their Grand Opening I actually put it on my calendar.  I knew exactly where I was going to be on Saturday morning.

Whoo Hoo! There was a giant "Wheel - o - Bargains".  I spun and won a $1 off my purchase.  Oh man I can't tell you how happy I am when I get money off my purchase.  yeah baby.  We were one of the first 1000 customer's so my husband and I received free Grocery Outlet - Bargain Market reusable bags!  (Rob was so excited.  Yes, he can be a dork sometimes too.)

What is it about this place?  Most of the items are things that I've never heard of, or have any interest in, however I am drawn to it like a kid to a candy store.  (Or better yet, like a wine lovin' mom who's found some…
