Wordless Wednesday - After The Rain

Iced Raspberry Rose Festiva Maximus Peony April showers bring May flowers.  Yes, that's true.  But for the Pacific Northwest April showers continue into May and June.  Sometimes July!  We shall see what this season brings. How's your weather in your neck of the woods?

Wordless Wednesday - Spending Time With A Minuet Mountain Laurel

Festiva Maxima - herbaceous peony Minuet Mountain Laurel Without our (most often times) dreary rain we wouldn't have such beautiful blossoms to look forward to in the Spring.  A couple of my favorites are blooming today!  I wish you could smell the peony :-> If you are looking for a shrub with a 'Wow!' factor I recommend the Minuet Mountain Laurel.  Right now this shrub is 2 feet high but it will grow up to 5 feet high and the same size around.  The stamens appear to be sewn through each petal.  Just amazing. The leaves are a shade of green that compliment the dark pink bud and the light pink blossom so perfectly.  No fragrance ( I like all things in my garden to have a scent) however, the detail of each flower make this laurel so worth it!  It does well in sun to partial shade and that works great for Spring in the Pacific Northwest. Do you have a flower garden?  What are some of your favorite blossoms?
