I have dreams of having different garden styles in each corner of our yard. A little Tuscan flavor on the left, a Japanese rock garden over in that corner and a touch of England along our brick wall with a country garden. Daisies, roses, delphinium and lavender. Lots and lots of lavender. I'm surprised to find out how many species there are of this aromatic plant. Currently there are 39 species and within the species over 400 varieties! Right now my Spanish lavender is blooming and it makes me so happy I can't wait to dry it and bring the scent inside the house.
I've learned that once you've planted lavender let it stay put. I've tried to move plants and they've died with each move. So, once they're set, they're set. If you would like to begin a lavender garden I suggest reading Lavender, How To Grow And Use The Fragrant Herb by Ellen Spector Platt. You'll find lots of good information there.
