Join The Turn It Up Tuesday Blog Hop!

It's been a busy week in the Harrison household.  Our days have been filled with painting the living room (I naively thought our little room would take a day with all four of us working.  It took 4!)  And my husband Rob building a fence for my mom.  I'm helping mightily ;-> by selecting the wood and removing nails from the old boards so we can use it in our little fire pit.  Yum!  Summer time S'more's!  My blogging this past week has been nil so I'm so happy to be a Guest Host this April to see what lovely posts others are writing!  Join us and Enjoy!

Rachel chose My Power Struggle Secrets! from BLOSSOM FAMILY. "I have a lot of experience with power struggles both as an incredibly stubborn child and now as a parent. I chose this post because it was a great reminder that defiance is not always directed related to the "request" that is being defied. She gives great tips on keeping communication respectful and open. Wouldn't we all like a more peaceful house?"

Angel chose Easter Baskets from Of Mice and Ramen. "I love these Easter cookies. They are just adorable. My daughter would absolutely love these."

Juanita chose Deviled Chick Eggs from Foodista. "These eggs are so adorable. I'll be making them for our work Easter luncheon this week."

Michele chose Picture Ledges from Normal Everyday Life. "I picked this because something as simple as a DIY ledge can cost so much at the store (even IKEA!). It is nice to see a DIY version for those families that want quality things in their home without breaking the bank."

MoneyTalk

Jessica chose The money talk | Talking to your spouse about finances from Thrift for Today. "Loved the post! This is something I think all couples need to discuss with each other. Money is definitely a touchy subject but it's something that must be discussed especially if, God forbid, someone loses their job. I especially loved #3! In order to have a successful relationship period don't keep secrets! Thanks for sharing :)."

JackyHowOld

Lorna chose How Old is "Sexy?" from Ms. Toody Goo Shoes. "This story had great writing and inspiring to women of all ages."

Stacey chose 10 WordPress.org Plugins I Couldn’t Do Without from Budget Girl. "This is fabulous information! A couple of them I already use like CommentLuv & "Pin It Button" and a couple of them I am definitely going to look into. I love the recipe one, it is something that I have always wondered how it was done. I am glad that I added CommentLuv early on, it majorly cut down on the spam that I was getting. Thank you so much for sharing!"

Natasha chose You Walk that Way, Superwoman, and I'll Walk this Way from Time With A&N. "I completely agree with this post. It's so hard to engage your child every second that you're together. To me, it's more important to be together and to always be so interactive. Great post!"

Miss Poodle Perm, That's Me!

Jill of Scary Mommy is doing a linky post about school pictures. You know the ones, possibly you didn't smile a sweet smile, just the smirk of panic. Or you didn't know it was picture day because you had been out sick for a week and you show up in your most comfortable shirt and bed-head. (Yep. That happened to me. The smile was good though!)

Well, my scanner isn't working or else I would post a particular picture from Freshman year. Since I don't have a visual, here's the story:

I remember my first day of High School. Actually what I remember is the picture taken of me leaving for my first day of High School. I'm wearing a brave smile, but the hair, the hair, my hair style was a nightmare.
My two best friends and I were going to be attending a High School out of our district. That was stressful enough. To add to this new-ness we wanted new looks as well. K. was going to sport the Argyle and Alligator shirt look. W. was going for 'All Monogrammed, Al…

How to Find the Safest Gear for your Baby

Nothing compares to the joys of being a parent. Having a newborn in the family brings couples closer and makes the entire household more cheerful and interesting. But as we all know, being a parent is not just about spending time with your baby. More than anything else, it also requires exerting a lot of effort to make sure that your baby is always safe and free from potential hazards. To further help you in this endeavor, here are some useful tips for finding the safest gear for your baby as you go through various baby product guides:

Opt for a non-toxic gear. The first thing you need to check is the composition of the safety gear. What is the material made from? Is it non-toxic? Be sure that it is because babies have a strong tendency to put everything they see or touch in their mouths. It goes without saying that a safety gear that is made from toxic materials could poison your baby, in the long run, so be very careful about the safety gears you purchase.
Make sure it is sturdy. The …

6 Things to Do to Improve Your Homes Water Quality

Water is an essential element that everyone needs for drinking, washing, and thriving. Many people don’t take the time to think about the quality of their water in their home. If your water quality is poor, that may have an impact on your health and your family’s well being. Whether you get your water from a well or your city’s water service, it’s important to think about its quality. Here are 6 actions you can take to help improve your water’s quality.
1. Test Your Water
It’s a smart idea to periodically test your water. If you are purchasing a new home, building new construction, or signing a new lease for an apartment or condo, make sure you test your water before moving in. There are inexpensive home water testing kits you can easily complete yourself. Home testing kits can give you a better idea of the chemical concentration of your water and whether or not there are any contaminants in your tap.
2. Find the Source
Another smart idea is to do some research and find the source of…
