5 Positive Places To Visit Online - Ann Again and again

A few weeks ago I made a promise to myself that I would not go seeking negativity in the news or on social media.  I have a tendency to hold the sad stories I read in my head and heart and it hurts.  It's one thing to empathize with someone's sad story but it's another when you continue to mull it over in your brain.  I've spent too much time trying to figure out how could something like that happen?  Or, why would they choose to do that?!  It's exhausting. For whatever reason I hold on to situations I've read about so I've decided, in order to save my sanity, I will look for places/spaces where positivity is shared and creativity grows.   Here's my list of Positive Places To Visit Online:

1.)  Pinterest

There's no better collection of creativity in all forms then on Pinterest.  You can find delicious recipes, lovely room design inspiration, humor in the form of visual jokes or written set-up's and dream board's full of wished for wardrobes and/or destinations.  It's definitely a positive site to visit.

2.)  UpWorthy

The tagline for UpWorthy is "Things that matter.  Pass 'em on".  I couldn't agree more.  Just as the title states, the video information that is shared on UpWorthy are items that are intended to provoke thoughts, emotions and actions, most directed in a positive way.  Every day you are sure to find some information that will put a smile on your face and in your heart.

3.)  HuffPost Comedy

Under the umbrella of The Huffington Post you will find the page marked for laughs.  Comedy is subjective but I always find something to lift my spirits and want to share with family and friends.  (In real life and on social media.)

4.) BuzzFeed

This site is the home of the countdown - so of course I had to include it on my list! :->  BuzzFeed shares various Top Ten (or 6 or 14) lists of either "18 Stunning Sunrises From Around The World", "15 Cutest Corgi Puppies Currently On-line" or "21 Weird Things People Actually Believed As Kids".  You'll also find humorous Q & A's so your burning questions of "Which '80's Pop Hit Are You?" and "Which Sandwich Are You?" can finally be answered.

5.)  Sunny Skyz  - Added 2/5/14

Great site to bring a smile to your face and warmth to your heart.  Their tagline - Always Positive, Upbeat Media is so true and completely needed every day.  It's my new favorite!!!

Are some of these sites a way to waste time on the internet?  Well, yes.  However, some are providing inspiration and worthy information.  And honestly, when was having a laugh and feeling a little lightness in your heart ever a waste of time?

Miss Poodle Perm, That's Me!

Jill of Scary Mommy is doing a linky post about school pictures. You know the ones, possibly you didn't smile a sweet smile, just the smirk of panic. Or you didn't know it was picture day because you had been out sick for a week and you show up in your most comfortable shirt and bed-head. (Yep. That happened to me. The smile was good though!) Well, my scanner isn't working or else I would post a particular picture from Freshman year. Since I don't have a visual, here's the story: I remember my first day of High School. Actually what I remember is the picture taken of me leaving for my first day of High School. I'm wearing a brave smile, but the hair, the hair , my hair style was a nightmare. My two best friends and I were going to be attending a High School out of our district. That was stressful enough. To add to this new-ness we wanted new looks as well. K. was going to sport the Argyle and Alligator shirt look. W. was going for 'All Monogram

My Questions Answered By Chef Pati Jinich - Video

Rob and I have been focusing on finding foods and spices that will help us take some weight off.  I've been slightly obsessed with staying on my exercise track (on week 8 now :->) and hope to get rid of this jiggly belly that has become wa-a-a-ay too comfortable on my body.  The older you get the harder it is to lose weight.  What I would say to my 40 year old self - 'See that pouch starting?  Do your crunches and planks now!  7 years from now it's going to get ugly !' I've found that spices cumin, cayenne pepper, red pepper flakes and turmeric are noted to increase metabolism.  ( Yes please !)  After a good workout coconut water is more beneficial in regulating your electrolytes, and lower in calories, than sports drinks.  It also contains more potassium than other drinks which is an important component in helping to build muscle which, in turn, helps you burn more calories. And my most surprising discovery - eating avocados help burn belly fat! I&#
