A Bit Grimm - Virtual Girls Night Out!

Ann Again... and again

If it's Friday it's time for our weekly blog party, the Virtual Girls Night Out!  Get your fuzzy slippers on and have fun.  And, if you like the t.v. show Grimm, there's a sneak peak below (they were filming in my neighborhood :-> )

Time For Some Tunes!

Allen Stone  "Unaware"

He has a great version of Bob Marley's "Is This Love".  If you like this song, check that one out too!

Time For A Cocktail!

Ingredients:
2 oz Dry Gin
1 oz Green Chartreuse
1/2 oz Fresh Lemon juice
Instructions:
Mix all ingredients in a cocktail shaker / stirrer and pour into an unusually shaped glass. Add Crushed Ice.

Did you know that Chartreuse is made with 130 herbal extracts? Sounds fantastic!  Cheers!

Time For Some Grimm!

I live in Portland, OR and if you're a Grimm viewer (NBC Friday nights 9:00pm) then you've been seeing a lot of my city.  It's filmed here!  So cool.  Yesterday they filmed in the little town of St. Johns that's within the city of Portland, and it just so happens to be my neighborhood :->  Here's a video taken by neighbor John David Van Beek of the afternoon's filming:

OH!  That looked like it hurt!  How do stunt people do it?  And the poor window of my favorite knick-knack store!  (Can't wait to see how it looks on t.v. :-> )

Time For A Party Game!

"I Would Like To Thank"

If you're like me your mind can linger on the negative news items and lose some focus on the good.  There is good!  There are things to be thankful for!  Let's remind ourselves of that right now.  List 3 people/things/situations that you would like to thank.

1) I Would Like To Thank... my family for being some of the coolest, most supportive, people I know.
2) I Would Like To Thank... my car for starting every time I turn the key.
3) I Would Like To Thank... my husband for working so hard for our family!

Your turn! I look forward to reading what you're thankful for.  Leave them in the comments or add them to your blog today :->

Thank you for playing at our Virtual G.N.O.  Hope to see you next time!

Miss Poodle Perm, That's Me!

Jill of Scary Mommy is doing a linky post about school pictures. You know the ones, possibly you didn't smile a sweet smile, just the smirk of panic. Or you didn't know it was picture day because you had been out sick for a week and you show up in your most comfortable shirt and bed-head. (Yep. That happened to me. The smile was good though!) Well, my scanner isn't working or else I would post a particular picture from Freshman year. Since I don't have a visual, here's the story: I remember my first day of High School. Actually what I remember is the picture taken of me leaving for my first day of High School. I'm wearing a brave smile, but the hair, the hair , my hair style was a nightmare. My two best friends and I were going to be attending a High School out of our district. That was stressful enough. To add to this new-ness we wanted new looks as well. K. was going to sport the Argyle and Alligator shirt look. W. was going for 'All Monogram

My Questions Answered By Chef Pati Jinich - Video

Rob and I have been focusing on finding foods and spices that will help us take some weight off.  I've been slightly obsessed with staying on my exercise track (on week 8 now :->) and hope to get rid of this jiggly belly that has become wa-a-a-ay too comfortable on my body.  The older you get the harder it is to lose weight.  What I would say to my 40 year old self - 'See that pouch starting?  Do your crunches and planks now!  7 years from now it's going to get ugly !' I've found that spices cumin, cayenne pepper, red pepper flakes and turmeric are noted to increase metabolism.  ( Yes please !)  After a good workout coconut water is more beneficial in regulating your electrolytes, and lower in calories, than sports drinks.  It also contains more potassium than other drinks which is an important component in helping to build muscle which, in turn, helps you burn more calories. And my most surprising discovery - eating avocados help burn belly fat! I&#
