Your Virtual Girls Night Out is BACK! I'm Sunscreen Barbie!

Ann Again... and again Virtual Girls Night Out

Yeah Baby!  After taking the past, oh, I'd say 6 months of Friday nights off, I do believe I'll kick-start this Virtual Girls Night Out party back up!  This virtual gathering began over 3 years ago. This is for those of us who aren't able to actually get out of the house and party; possible baby-sitter problem, or just exhaustion from a long week and there is no way anyone is going to make you get out of your comfy clothes and fuzzy slippers.  So get cozy and get ready for our own Friday night Virtual Girls Night Out! Cheers :->  (*Leave a comment with your blog link so I know you stopped by*)

Time For Some Tunes!

Michael Kiwanuka  "Tell Me A Story"

I heard this song on the radio the other morning and I scrambled to my iPhone to get on SoundHound to find out who it was.  Hope you like.

My latest favorite.  Perfect song for the warm, sunny days to come.

Time For A Cocktail!

(Normally I would show a pic of the cocktail right here but I had a most unfortunate circumstance with Getty Images sending a huge document claiming I had used one of their images and that I owed them over $700 dollars.  Um, no I did not, however dealing with it all freaked me out enough that there's no pretty picture of a cocktail in this space.  *Imagination time*)

Get your Irish On!

Ingredients:1 oz gin
1 tsp green crème de menthe
2 dashes bitters
Preparation:
Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice cubes.  Shake well.  Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

Sláinte!

Time For A Party Game!

As I look around my house I see a LOT of Barbie's. There's the Barbie in her scuba suit and the Barbie who's a Vet. These Barbie's are outside on the swing-set and in the garden too. But, these dolls don't represent the way I think they should. If I were a Barbie I would be "Sunscreen Barbie". Follow the chart below to see which Barbie you would be.

"Modern Barbie"
(Use the chart to find which Barbie you are. Use the letter of your first name.)

A - D = Sunscreen Barbie
E - H = Lactose Intolerate Barbie
I - L = Migraine Barbie
M - P = No Carbs For Me Barbie
Q - T = Mini Van Barbie
U - Z = Have You Seen My Keys? Barbie

Now, which Barbie are you? (If you want to tweak this a bit, go right ahead.)

Thank you for joining our Virtual Girls Night Out!  Leave your blog link in the comments so other guests will visit.  And when you do visit others, say your from the VGNO!  :->

Miss Poodle Perm, That's Me!

Jill of Scary Mommy is doing a linky post about school pictures. You know the ones, possibly you didn't smile a sweet smile, just the smirk of panic. Or you didn't know it was picture day because you had been out sick for a week and you show up in your most comfortable shirt and bed-head. (Yep. That happened to me. The smile was good though!)

Well, my scanner isn't working or else I would post a particular picture from Freshman year. Since I don't have a visual, here's the story:

I remember my first day of High School. Actually what I remember is the picture taken of me leaving for my first day of High School. I'm wearing a brave smile, but the hair, the hair, my hair style was a nightmare.
My two best friends and I were going to be attending a High School out of our district. That was stressful enough. To add to this new-ness we wanted new looks as well. K. was going to sport the Argyle and Alligator shirt look. W. was going for 'All Monogrammed, Al…

How to Find the Safest Gear for your Baby

Nothing compares to the joys of being a parent. Having a newborn in the family brings couples closer and makes the entire household more cheerful and interesting. But as we all know, being a parent is not just about spending time with your baby. More than anything else, it also requires exerting a lot of effort to make sure that your baby is always safe and free from potential hazards. To further help you in this endeavor, here are some useful tips for finding the safest gear for your baby as you go through various baby product guides:

Opt for a non-toxic gear. The first thing you need to check is the composition of the safety gear. What is the material made from? Is it non-toxic? Be sure that it is because babies have a strong tendency to put everything they see or touch in their mouths. It goes without saying that a safety gear that is made from toxic materials could poison your baby, in the long run, so be very careful about the safety gears you purchase.
Make sure it is sturdy. The …

Taking Steps To Stay Away From Depression

Why do I read the news?   So depressing.  I'm at a place in my life where I need to focus on positive images, ideas and people whenever possible.  Why in the world do I click links that will only lead to negative, unhappy, heart-breaking information?  Ugh.  I don't understand myself.  If I'm going to avoid a depressive state of mind I need to stay far away from the negative.

Oh I need to read this everyday.  More than once a day.

There is good all around.  I'm going to keep looking for the positive, the humor, the kindness.   Do you have any suggestions on where I can find positive, funny, heart-encouraging news and images?  I would love to focus on what could go right in the world.  And... I would love to share more positive with anyone who will accept it.
