I Don't Like This Conversation

Just had a meeting with a Life Insurance Rep.  I have to say, it's hard to be excited about this kind of meeting.  All those numbers:  Life expectancy, pay this-much and you'll get this-much if you pass, put in $ and you'll get it IF you pass before a certain age.

I have to put myself into another mind set for these meetings.  I try to stay involved and not go wandering off in my thoughts somewhere, like not think about how I would like to be talking about just-about-anything-else then Life Insurance.

Happily the meeting ended with our rep. needing to catch a plane to spend the weekend in the Napa Valley.  We perked right up when we heard that.  Talk about a "happy place" for Rob and I!!!  We brought out our books and gave him recommendations for wineries to visit.  It's his first trip with his girlfriend and he was happy for the input.

We didn't bond over our "death money" conversation, we bonded over wine, as it should be.

If only we were headed to the Napa Valley this weekend as well.  Have you ever been?  If so, what wineries would you recommend?

(I'm joining the weekend link-up at Our Everyday Harvest.  Visit this blog and add your blog link as well.  Let me know if you do!)

Miss Poodle Perm, That's Me!

Jill of Scary Mommy is doing a linky post about school pictures. You know the ones, possibly you didn't smile a sweet smile, just the smirk of panic. Or you didn't know it was picture day because you had been out sick for a week and you show up in your most comfortable shirt and bed-head. (Yep. That happened to me. The smile was good though!) Well, my scanner isn't working or else I would post a particular picture from Freshman year. Since I don't have a visual, here's the story: I remember my first day of High School. Actually what I remember is the picture taken of me leaving for my first day of High School. I'm wearing a brave smile, but the hair, the hair , my hair style was a nightmare. My two best friends and I were going to be attending a High School out of our district. That was stressful enough. To add to this new-ness we wanted new looks as well. K. was going to sport the Argyle and Alligator shirt look. W. was going for 'All Monogram
