Virtual Girls Night Out - Hopping

Waking up to pouring rain shouldn't be unusual to me, I do live in the Pacific Northwest after all. It's just that yesterday was sunny, and the sun felt so good and so hopeful and this rain... this rain that seems to be pelting so-o-o-o many in the United States (my heart goes out to you East Coasters) is a big flippin' drag!!! Enough already!!!

Whew...

OK. I am in need of an intense, completely absorbing (see the bottom of this post and you'll see why) blog-hopping good ol' Virtual Girls Night Out! Let's get going.

* The VGNO is for those who couldn't get a baby-sitter but still need to break away from the cries and demands of our family, if only for a little bit. The VGNO blog-hopping party began in 2008! Check out this post, then add your blog name & link to Simply Linked below. Click on blog links that have joined our party. Visit new friends & go blog-hopping! And... if you don't have time to blog-hop tonight, that's cool. Add your link any way & I bet you'll be able to visit friends tomorrow... or the next day... or the next day. Happy VGNO! *

Time For A Cocktail!

Easter Bunny
Ingredients:
1 1/2 oz dark crème de cacao
1/2 oz vodka
1 tsp chocolate syrup
1 tsp cherry brandy
Preparation:
Pour the crème de cacao and vodka into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well.
Strain into an old-fashioned glass with ice cubes. Float chocolate syrup and cherry brandy on top.

I'm ready to fill my basket with some of these!!! (Nap time wouldn't be far away)

Time For Some Tunes!

Oren Lavie "Her Morning Elegance"

I've played this at the VGNO before. But it's so worth showing/hearing again.

Time For A Freebie!

The rain will stop eventually... right? When it does, how about planting a garden that will attract some beautiful butterflies. You can receive free butterfly garden seeds from Live Monarch Seeds. All you need to do is send a self-addressed stamped envelope to:

OK. My 11 yr. old niece is staying with us for a few days for her Spring Break. (My daughters had theirs 2 weeks ago.) This is all just kinda crazy, um... that's all I'm going to say - for now. E-mail me for more details! ;-> I will be distracting myself with happiness by blog-hopping like a good little blogging friend should!

*Now add your blog link to Simply Linked below and join the Virtual Girls Night Out! Visit those that have signed in. The list will grow through out the weekend so come back and see who has joined our party. I hope you meet some wonderful bloggers! Have fun!

Miss Poodle Perm, That's Me!

Jill of Scary Mommy is doing a linky post about school pictures. You know the ones, possibly you didn't smile a sweet smile, just the smirk of panic. Or you didn't know it was picture day because you had been out sick for a week and you show up in your most comfortable shirt and bed-head. (Yep. That happened to me. The smile was good though!) Well, my scanner isn't working or else I would post a particular picture from Freshman year. Since I don't have a visual, here's the story: I remember my first day of High School. Actually what I remember is the picture taken of me leaving for my first day of High School. I'm wearing a brave smile, but the hair, the hair , my hair style was a nightmare. My two best friends and I were going to be attending a High School out of our district. That was stressful enough. To add to this new-ness we wanted new looks as well. K. was going to sport the Argyle and Alligator shirt look. W. was going for 'All Monogram

My Questions Answered By Chef Pati Jinich - Video

Rob and I have been focusing on finding foods and spices that will help us take some weight off.  I've been slightly obsessed with staying on my exercise track (on week 8 now :->) and hope to get rid of this jiggly belly that has become wa-a-a-ay too comfortable on my body.  The older you get the harder it is to lose weight.  What I would say to my 40 year old self - 'See that pouch starting?  Do your crunches and planks now!  7 years from now it's going to get ugly !' I've found that spices cumin, cayenne pepper, red pepper flakes and turmeric are noted to increase metabolism.  ( Yes please !)  After a good workout coconut water is more beneficial in regulating your electrolytes, and lower in calories, than sports drinks.  It also contains more potassium than other drinks which is an important component in helping to build muscle which, in turn, helps you burn more calories. And my most surprising discovery - eating avocados help burn belly fat! I&#
