Before You Speak: THINK

I will definitely be sharing this with my daughters.  (It's a good reminder, no matter what age.)

My 6th grader is beginning to experience her first friendship drama and I'm reminding her to keep the situation between her and her friend, not to include their whole group which will surely make their issues so much bigger than they need to be.  (Maybe if I told her 'Save the drama for your mama' she'll actually do it ;-> ).

I really see it now, the age when emotional differences between men/women begin.  When you're a 12 y/o girl you begin to feel that you're getting the hang of relationships and you want to get all involved, and talk, and share, and try to figure things out with your oh-so-mature 12 y/o mind.  When you're a 12 y/o boy you don't want to talk about feelings, you want to either tell gross jokes, go play with a ball of some kind, or rough house with your friends.

At what age does this behavior truly change?

We'll see how this situation with my 12 y/o daughter pans out.  I hope she and her friend calm down and resolve it between just the two of them.  Oh, Middle School!  Why are you such a pain?!?

  1. I have a teenager and thankfully I haven't had to deal with too much drama from her yet. I am sure its only a matter of time since she is in high school now.
