Our neighbors were ready to take down a walnut tree in their backyard. Rob offered to help in exchange for the wood. Katie went to help stack the wood but just couldn't take the fact that a healthy tree was coming down. (I was right there with her.)
This picture is after one of Katie's let-it-all-out good cries -- and right before another one.
***Side note: Our neighbors planted 2 trees in it's place. (The walnut tree attracted squirrels and the neighbors just couldn't tolerate all the squirrels.)***

Dear Ann,
ReplyDeleteI wish you lived close to NC. We could give you all of the wood you need and you wouldn't have a crying daughter either. We have two acres full of trees. The wind blew down some huge oaks this winter ( a hurricane years ago probably didn't help)!
I wonder if your daughter will decide to join a protect the trees group and go live in one for a while?!? :) How nice though that she appreciates the beauty of trees and their importance in our environment.
ReplyDeleteBy the way I notice a recurring theme here - more talk about nuts!! :)

My husband is a tree surgeon and he hates having to take down a beautiful healthy tree.
ReplyDeleteI think you might have a future arborist on your hands =)
Love her and her cool hoodie, which I would like TOTALLY borrow!
ReplyDelete:)
When my daughter was going to public school, she was upset because they cut down the trees behind the school to build a new bus garage.
ReplyDeleteShe was actually starting to cry!
