Our family survived the holiday without injury. Yeah!
I always get so nervous about those crazy fireworks. I wish I didn't. It takes away a lot of the 'Oooh' and 'Ahhh' enjoyment. Instead it's more like 'Hey! Don't point that at people!' Or 'You're too close! Get away from there!' Ugh.
I remember when I was younger and I couldn't wait to get sparklers. I loved to write my name to create my own neon sign or throw them in the air for my own fireworks display.
One year a sparkler went a little crazy in my hand and sparked too much. It burnt holes in my precious navy blue polyester pants. Ye-e-e-ouch! That did it for me. No more sparklers after that. (And considering I was wearing polyester pants, maybe the sparklers did me a favor? ;-> )
***Update***
My daughter's best friends father is returning home from the Hospital today.
Thank you for your well wishes and prayers.
It's going to be a long road.

Hmmm....friends don't let friends wear polyester pants!! Lol...I'm the same way...but I always look back and remember the good stuff...for the most part! ;-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the update on your friend's family. And let's all be thankful for the end to polyester pants too.
ReplyDeleteLOL your too funny! I guess I missed the first part of your daughter's friend's father, noetheless glad he's ok have a FAB monday! XOXO
ReplyDeleteexcellent news on the dad!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI liked when fireworks were more controlled
I freak out about fireworks being done by individuals. I expect the neighbors to catch my house on fire every year. They aim them right at our house it seems.
ReplyDeleteAnd the polyester pants...I'm glad that happened.
I don't like fireworks either, unless I'm watching them from a distance. Poor polyester pants!
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing how much more stressful things are as you get older. We always drove out on the ice as kids to watch the winter fireworks, now the thought makes me sick.
ReplyDeleteI'm always freaking out about fireworks! (especially since we live in the desert!)
ReplyDeleteHow did his surgery go? Is he going to be okay?
ReplyDeleteI HATE sparklers and keep far away from them.
Justine :o )
I'm glad to hear that your daughter's best friend's father is back home. I'll continue to send well wishes and prayers.
ReplyDeletePolyester pants? You're dating yourself here, Ann.
Oh man! The only time I recall actually wearing polyester pants was at my first job when I was sixteen- a grocery store. Luckily, they changed the dress code shortly after I started. I agree with the others' comments about the pants, maybe it was a sign.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad your friend is returning home from the hospital.
ReplyDeleteI've done the neighborhood fireworks before. It isn't the same as spreading out a quilt, lying down & enjoying the show. But, to me, it does seem to make for better memories.
there was a time i wore lots of polyester pants. it was the late 70's lol
ReplyDeletei'm glad to hear that the friend's dad is going home :)
