This week's Tuesday Truth is from my lovely Guest Blogger Christy from "Uplifting Families"

I never knew how hard it was to be a mom until I actually became a mother.  In fact, when I was a child I vowed to never be like my parents.  However, all of that changed and I was soon doing the very things that I told my parents that I would never do.  During a conversation with my dad, he saw me doing one of the things that I told my parents I would never do.  He said, “What happened?”  I replied, “I changed my mind.”  My dad just grinned.

When I found out that I was expecting my daughter at the age of nineteen, I was worried about what my friends and others would think of me for getting pregnant so young.  After all, I had only been out of high school for less than a year.  I tried to avoid people that I knew because I thought people wouldn't think of me as that type of girl.  Looking back, that was a dumb thing to think.  I should have cherished my pregnancy more and never worried about what other people who knew me thought.

Each one of my children are a blessing and I am thankful to have them in my life.  I will admit that it was very tough being a young mom.  I did marry the father of my firstborn and he went into the military to support our family.  It was difficult to raise a baby on a limited income but I learned how to be frugal.  My daughter had everything that she needed in order to be happy.

As a parent, you always want the best for your child.  Things might have been difficult financially but we were able to provide her with the basic things that she needed.  Most of all she was surrounded by people who love her.  I was lucky and I was able to stay home with her when she was younger.  My daughter didn't have to go to daycare until I started working a few years later when I decided to go back to work for extra money.

If you are a teen mom, I will be honest that things will be difficult, but your baby doesn't need all of the stuff in the world in order to be happy.  Your child will never remember what he or she had while a baby, as long as they are loved.  Get a great support system and cherish your pregnancy.

What lovely, supportive words!  And so true, no matter what age you were when you had your baby, just give your love not the latest "toy of wonder".   Do you connect with Christy's experience?  Is there anything you would like to add?  We look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Jill of Scary Mommy is doing a linky post about school pictures. You know the ones, possibly you didn't smile a sweet smile, just the smirk of panic. Or you didn't know it was picture day because you had been out sick for a week and you show up in your most comfortable shirt and bed-head. (Yep. That happened to me. The smile was good though!) Well, my scanner isn't working or else I would post a particular picture from Freshman year. Since I don't have a visual, here's the story: I remember my first day of High School. Actually what I remember is the picture taken of me leaving for my first day of High School. I'm wearing a brave smile, but the hair, the hair , my hair style was a nightmare. My two best friends and I were going to be attending a High School out of our district. That was stressful enough. To add to this new-ness we wanted new looks as well. K. was going to sport the Argyle and Alligator shirt look. W. was going for 'All Monogram

My Questions Answered By Chef Pati Jinich - Video

Rob and I have been focusing on finding foods and spices that will help us take some weight off.  I've been slightly obsessed with staying on my exercise track (on week 8 now :->) and hope to get rid of this jiggly belly that has become wa-a-a-ay too comfortable on my body.  The older you get the harder it is to lose weight.  What I would say to my 40 year old self - 'See that pouch starting?  Do your crunches and planks now!  7 years from now it's going to get ugly !' I've found that spices cumin, cayenne pepper, red pepper flakes and turmeric are noted to increase metabolism.  ( Yes please !)  After a good workout coconut water is more beneficial in regulating your electrolytes, and lower in calories, than sports drinks.  It also contains more potassium than other drinks which is an important component in helping to build muscle which, in turn, helps you burn more calories. And my most surprising discovery - eating avocados help burn belly fat! I&#
