Rob has been donating blood to the American Red Cross for years, decades. Our youngest, Lily, asked why he did it. Did he get paid? Do they give you anything? He said, "I do it because it helps people."
When I posted his picture of Facebook, along with his visit to the American Red Cross, a dear friend from high school commented "Please tell that wonderful hubby of yours that he just saved 3 lives by giving blood!!" Wow. 3 lives.
Have you donated blood? If you haven't, and knowing that it can help save lives, do you want to? If you want to make a donation, visit http://www.redcrossblood.org/ .
Cheers!

Looks like the kind of fluids my husband likes as well. How cool that your husband is sharing the importance of giving blood with your children. :) I'm dropping by from Our Everyday Harvest's blog hop today.
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by from O.E.H. Blog Hop Kelly!
DeleteEvery time Rob heads to his appointment at American Red Cross he asks the girls if they want to come too. So far, it's a 'no' ;->
God will always bless You, Your husband and your kids because you got such wonderful heart that is ready to help others. God Bless You! :)
ReplyDeleteThe best way to teach your children is by example. We hope they see that we do our best to help any way we can.
DeleteMy hubs donates but I don't . I'm a huge baby when it comes to needles and usually pass out when I have blood taken.
ReplyDeleteAck! If you pass out then donating blood definitely isn't for you. I'm sure you help in other ways Julia :->
DeletePlease tell your husband Thank You for his donation. Some people dont realize just how dire the need is for blood donors. I do. I am on the liver transplant list and I fully understand that when the day comes for me to get my new liver, I will also need blood. Your husband is a hero! So again from the bottom of my heart. Thank You! Stopping over from the Harvest Blog Hop.

I'm so glad you found me through the Harvest Blog Hop!
DeleteThank you for sharing such an incredibly personal experience Kim. You've brought tears to my eyes. And you've made an excellent point on why more should be blood donors.
I've shown your comment to Rob and he's very thankful for your kind words.
Happy to have connected with you Kim!
