Just when I think we are done with having piles of dirt in
our driveway, my husband sees a sign that states "Free Dirt" stuck
into a huge pile of soil and his eyes begin to glaze over with dreams of adding
on to our backyard yet again. We live
on a bluff and with each rainy season we seem to lose an inch or two of our
yard to tiny avalanches. My husband
loves the idea of replacing what Mother Nature has relocated but, after the
huge undertaking last summer, he would appreciate some big machinery rather than
just a wheel barrow and some shovels.
Do we really need to add more dirt to our backyard to help
brace our space? I’m not entirely
sure. This could just be an elaborate
ploy by Rob to get my blessing for him to play in the dirt with the boys. (The "boys” in this case being the neighbors
who are also looking for an excuse to play in the dirt ;->). One thing is for sure, if such large amounts
of dirt are going to be moved again we need machinery, like JCB backhoes. The lifting and moving of dirt may be good
exercise but I bet driving machinery is more fun.
