Kids Can Suck

My oldest daughter made the mistake of leaving one of her precious possessions in her desk at school while she went to join Crossing Guard duty.  When she returned to her classroom she found her favorite belonging had been broken to bits, scattered all over the classroom floor.  To say that she was sad is an understatement.

I thought that I had seen my 12 yr. old breakdown before, but nothing prepared me for her complete devastation.

There were no clear answers as to how this happened.  Her best friends were trying to help her, consoling her and sharing stories of when something similar had happened to them.  I was immediately 12 again remembering the pain I felt when someone stole something of mine from my desk.  All of a sudden these kids that you spend your days with look totally different to you.  You're suspicious and hate them all

I'm sure we'll get more answers on Friday (no school today, Veteran's Day).  Is it time to go live in a bubble?

  4. because i know how kids can get, i often tell my kids 'don't bring that to school cos it will get broken or stolen.' seriously. i really tell them this. i think it's sad that i have to. :o/ one year, mini-me left her hoodie somewhere at school & she saw it in the lost & found bucket. she forgot to get it, and the next day, when she went to retrieve it, it was gone, and she had seen some girl wearing it. couldn't confront her though. well, maybe, cos it was the only hoodie like that at school. :o/ hope they figure out what happened to your daughter's prized possession.

  6. I am so sorry your little peanut had to go through this!! You must be as heartbroken as she is, if not more! My 12 year old son got into a verbal argument with some kid in class about 2 months ago. The kid tried to punch my son and my son blocked the punch but his finger was broken in the process. Now this kid is telling my son daily that he will break his finger again or worse. I told my son that unless this other kid physically touches him, he is to ignore it but if the kid tried to touch him, he is to demolish him and I don't care who is watching. I know not all parents agree with me but it is either that or else I beat the snot outta the little creap! Give your daughter a hug for me!!!!
