If You Were A Little Girl In The '70's

If You Were A Little Girl In The '70's...

It was a big event in your household each year when the "Wizard of Oz" would come on TV.

Your hairstyle was described as having "wings" or "feathers" and you kept it pretty with the comb you kept in your back pocket.

You completely wore out your “Grease” and “Saturday Night Fever” soundtrack albums.

You used to tape record songs off the radio by holding your portable tape player up to the speaker.

Your satin baseball jacket was a prized possession.

You drowned yourself in Love's Baby Soft - which was the first "real" perfume you ever owned.

You had a pair of Doctor Scholl's sandals (the ones with the hard wood sole that you were constantly slipping off of and hurting your heel!)

You learned everything you needed to know about girl issues from Judy Blume books (“Are you there God, It's me, Margaret.”) and After School Specials.

You wore a Little House on the Prairie-inspired plaid, ruffle shirt with the high neck in at least one school picture.

At a birthday party the only person to receive gifts was the “Birthday Girl” (Goody Bags for all the guests? What’s up with that?!?)

Your favorite magazines were Tiger Beat and Dynamite.

You never thought to ask “How many calories are in a bag of Doritos?”

  1. Those were the good ole days weren't they. I loved my Loves Baby Soft. So hard to find it now but every now and then you can find it sitting way back on a shelf. I couldn't stand Little House on the Prairie but back then you only had 3 channels to watch and you had to watch what mom watched. Thanks for the memories.

  2. Gosh, I feel old. :)
I was a little on the young side for Love' Baby Soft so my mom wouldn't let me have it. Which of course made me covet it even more! Turned out it only smells like baby powder, but I think the idea of me wearing "perfume" in grammar school was more the issue.

  6. Ahhh, the memories! Bonnie Bell Lip Smacker in bubblegum comes to mind. :)

I had a "real" night out with my family--just to a neighbor's for an outdoor movie night. We watched the original "Karate Kid"--that took me back, too. Happy VGNO Ann!

  7. You forgot the multi-colored frosted eyeshadow and the Gloria Vanderbilt jeans that were so tight you had to lay on your bed and zip them with a hanger.

    Ha! This is great!

  9. Omgoodness! I was a pro at recording on my tape player and totally still love 'little house', alas I had no satin jacket but an interesting Dr. Scholl story - I went on the Zipper ride with them, it didn't end good. Just talked to my son about Superfudge too and can smell the Baby Soft!
