I Love My Chiropractor

My body is messed up.

I think it started when I was in a car accident when I was about 12 yrs. old. That began my neck problems. Then, the night of my Senior Prom I was involved in another accident. (My date rear-ended friends while driving his mother's brand new BMW on the way to the dance. Good Lord. It was like a John Hughes movie.)

The older I get the harder I have to work to make my core strong. Having children taxed my body in ways it wasn't prepared for. A few years ago my back went out and I was immobile. I was so depressed! Here I was, in my late 30's and I felt like my body was 130. I could not move. Then... then I found my current Chiropractor. *Cue the angels singing*

I have gone to Chiropractor's since I was 12 and I have experienced many different techniques. There was one that had, now this is my interpertation, a plastic cone with a roller ball on one end that he would move over your body while rolling the ball. He said that this was picking up the areas of tension in the body so he knew where the source(s) of pain were. Are you kidding me?!? There was more silliness. I wasn't happy.

Then the glorious Dr. Dan came along. He really won me over when he told me "I don't want to see you". Meaning, I want to fix you, and send you on your way. Not the "Come and see me 3 times a week for 6 months" routine.

The last time I visited his office was June of 2008. (I can't believe that! Good for me.) When I showed up this morning he knew which side was out and what I was feeling before I said anything. *sigh* I love this guy.

I'm hurting from my adjustment right now, but I know I'll feel better very soon. A little Ibuprofen with a whiskey chaser works every time. kidding! well, kind of ;->

Miss Poodle Perm, That's Me!

Jill of Scary Mommy is doing a linky post about school pictures. You know the ones, possibly you didn't smile a sweet smile, just the smirk of panic. Or you didn't know it was picture day because you had been out sick for a week and you show up in your most comfortable shirt and bed-head. (Yep. That happened to me. The smile was good though!) Well, my scanner isn't working or else I would post a particular picture from Freshman year. Since I don't have a visual, here's the story: I remember my first day of High School. Actually what I remember is the picture taken of me leaving for my first day of High School. I'm wearing a brave smile, but the hair, the hair , my hair style was a nightmare. My two best friends and I were going to be attending a High School out of our district. That was stressful enough. To add to this new-ness we wanted new looks as well. K. was going to sport the Argyle and Alligator shirt look. W. was going for 'All Monogram

My Questions Answered By Chef Pati Jinich - Video

Rob and I have been focusing on finding foods and spices that will help us take some weight off.  I've been slightly obsessed with staying on my exercise track (on week 8 now :->) and hope to get rid of this jiggly belly that has become wa-a-a-ay too comfortable on my body.  The older you get the harder it is to lose weight.  What I would say to my 40 year old self - 'See that pouch starting?  Do your crunches and planks now!  7 years from now it's going to get ugly !' I've found that spices cumin, cayenne pepper, red pepper flakes and turmeric are noted to increase metabolism.  ( Yes please !)  After a good workout coconut water is more beneficial in regulating your electrolytes, and lower in calories, than sports drinks.  It also contains more potassium than other drinks which is an important component in helping to build muscle which, in turn, helps you burn more calories. And my most surprising discovery - eating avocados help burn belly fat! I&#
