Since Katie was around 5 she has had a special bond with the cherry tree in our back yard. She claimed it as her own, calling it "My cherry tree". Every year she climbs higher and higher. Yes, there was that one time when she was smaller and her fear got the best of her, she couldn't get down. Praise for the wonderful neighbors who gathered round and helped her! (And don't bring that up unless you want the cold, steely stare of a 12 year old!)
I was looking for her yesterday and she was no where in our house. I had a suspicion that she might be in "her" tree...
"And that's how you climb a tree!"

I was holding my breath too! lol I can only imagine how lovely that tree is when it blooms. And I like your voice. Some people just don't look like their voices at all! You match. (grin)
ReplyDeleteThat is so fun....my little Katarina (who we often call Katie) has a special tree in my Grandma's yard that she has claimed for her own. She started climbing it when she was 3 and now that she is 6 she can reach a few branches higher. I can just see her in 6 more years making it to the top!
ReplyDeleteBy the way...you have a really lovely back yard!
Wow! Did she take gymnastics like my Katie did when she was her age? She is so agile!
ReplyDeleteNow that's a girl after my own heart! (I can't remember how old I was when I stopped climbing trees!)
ReplyDeleteI loved climbing trees when I was young, but I never went that high...I like to play it safe!!
ReplyDeleteI love this post!! I had a cherry tree in our yard growing up!! I would hang upside down from it and think deep thoughts and get covered in that red dust that comes off the bark (of some cherries)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic video! This made my day!!!

ReplyDeleteI also love your daughter's spirit! Good for her. It must be fun up in that tree. What an adorable bond..a girl and her tree!
