Ye Olde Background Check

While filling out forms at the beginning of the school year, including a Background Check so I may be accepted as a chaperone for all the little kiddies, I get a little bit panicky. I shouldn't. I haven't done anything wrong. I've never been in serious trouble. But my mind starts to wander...

I think of those times years ago, when my irresponsible, immature behavior could have altered my path and pointed me in a negative direction. I wasn't a "Wild Child" but, there are times I realized I must have had an angel on my shoulder.

When I was young I knew some of the dumb things we were doing weren’t right, but I stayed with my group of friends and continued on. Thank God there wasn’t YouTube and Facebook then! I would hate to have any stupid actions recorded for the entire World to see… forever.

Ah... to be a kid again... No Thanks. My Guardian Angel's a bit tired.

  1. Yup. Kids can't get away with stuff like they used to. For example one of my hubby's students got suspended from sports bc someone turned in his FB page which had pics of him drinking at a party and the party was dated during the sports season.

  2. I'm with you... I definitely had a guardian angel with me as a teen and young adult (and still do). I could have gotten myself into some serious trouble, but luckily I made it through ok. It's definitely a different reality for kids today.

  3. They say God watches over fools and children. I speak from experience, mind you.

  4. Oh, I don't know... sigh... I think there's something to be said for getting things out of our system while we are young. Dontcha think? (Wink, wink!)

  6. I my husband and I are both lucky to be alive when I think of the things we did (mostly him of course). I'm sure my guardian angel is hoping for early retirement.

  10. That's funny! I totally understand & I'm glad all my junior high pranks, etc. weren't shared on FB!

But I'm really glad that the schools are doing the background checks, we had a strange incident last year & I don't know if a background check would have helped but it couldn't have hurt.
