  6. Okay, how freaking ADORABLE are you? Love it!
Ann, if I had stock in Haagen Daaz, I'd send cartons of it over by Fed Ex. With a cute delivery guy, natch. (Only the best for my bloggy pal!)
Seriously, maybe you do need to pack up and come visit? We're having another torrential storm right this very instant, complete with lightening and hail. It's been about 10 degrees cooler than normal almost every day. C'mon, you miss New York, right?
Hope it cools down for you soon!

  8. I just had some Ben & Jerry's the other day at their ice cream parlor. It was the most expensive two scoops of ice cream I've ever had. It's also going to be the last- unless, like you wish, they sponsor the taste fest :D

  9. We here in my part of South Georgia are going through a cool spell. I think it only got to 90 today. Yay us! We had some temps in the low 100's a few weeks back but we still have lovely August to get through.

Now, to address the plea for highly chilled treats of the dessert variety.... for the record those only serve to make you feel even hotter when you finish them.

The best way to cool off is with a cool, not cold, bath or shower (Note that a bath actually saves water). Of course if you have access to a large body of water (i.e. pool, swimming hole, neighbors koi pond) then that would be ideal.

If you computer is in a poorly air conditioned part of the house there are a few things you can do (the obligatory move it not withstanding): Get yourself a small desktop fan (8-10" fan is fine), take the side off the case, set the fan about 1-2" from the op-en side of the case, and turn the fan on. This will help to move the hot air out and move cooler air through thereby lowering the operating temp making it more stable. This is only a short term fix, a band-aid if you will. Repeated crashing will ultimately cause damage as will the heat levels causing it to crash.

On a much happier note, I am, at this very moment, munching on a bowl of chocolate ice cream with fudge sauce and chocolate chips. Not good at all for my diabetes but oh so comforting. I will have a bowl for you as well.

    Later tater!

  14. OMG! I have tears in my eyes, just watching that, of course it's cooler today! YEAH! I love that you "encouraged" the kids to go to VBS! Hopefully you're doing better now!

Wednesday was my bday and I spent an hr & a 1/2 in our backyard pool...ie warm bathtub. Yes, it's great we have one, but w/how hot it was outside, it didn't feel that great! Delaney propped up the airmatresses for us to hide under!

We're off to Cannon Beach today, now that it's cooler, packed sweatshirts & all....don't know if I'll make VGNO, but have a great time!

  16. Love that manic grin at the end!!!

Why don't you get in the car and do another road trip? You can visit me in Connecticut, where it's been pouring like crazy. It's in the upper 80s here and humid, but it beats what you're having right now!

  17. I drove to Oregon from NY when we moved there. A year later, I moved back to NY. The kids & I took a train.

    Both were trips to remember!

Right now, I wish I were on an Alaskan Cruise (our dream vacation)

    Happy VGNO!
