Yes! Another Friday is here :->
Yesterday I helped at school for Picture Day. Our school holds grades K-8, so you can imagine the attitude differences that wafted through the room filled with cameras. The precious Kindergartner's unsure of what was happening, the adorable 3rd graders making silly faces, and the self-conscious "Upper Classmen".
I spent my time running from class to class, making sure everyone used those funky plastic combs, and giving as much positive reinforcement as I could. The older boys wanted their hair to cover their precious faces and the girls were too self-aware to just relax and smile. I was sucked back to that age and I remember those feelings all too well. I just wanted to hug them all and say "You're wonderful! You're terrific! Stop worrying!" Instead I smiled as much as I could and told them they were beautiful. They are.
You know what we all need? A bit of positive reinforcement and a Virtual Girls Night Out!
For those that are new to our party, a Virtual Girls Night Out (boys welcome too)is a social, blog-hopping party. A way to meet others while in our fluffy slippers (Boys, I'm not judging ;->). The party starts here! You sign the Mr. Linky guestbook then visit fellow bloggers that have signed in as well. Please add your blog link to Mr. Linky below and join in the blog-hopping fun!
I Feel Like Singing!
This song was running through my head while I was looking at these young faces. I wish I could make them all feel safe & special.
10,000 Maniacs "These Are The Days"
Watch more Our Time in Eden videos on AOL Video
I don't think I could wear the color that Natalie Merchant is wearing in that video. Just give me 10 minutes and there would definitely be some kind of smudge or food or SOMETHING on it somewhere. Here's a question... do you wear white pants and/or a white skirt? If so, how do you stay clean? I'd be a nervous wreck.
Time For A Cocktail!
White Capris
Ingredients:
0.75 oz Banana Liqueur
0.75 oz Cream
0.75 oz White Creme de Cacao
Directions:
Fill a shaker half full with ice cubes. Pour all ingredients into shaker and shake well. Fill a Tumbler almost full of ice cubes, and strain drink into Tumbler.
Goodness Gracious!!! I'm going to have to do double-time on my Wii Fit after this caloric concoction! That's OK, it's worth it ;->
Time For Some Fun!
Watching those girls yesterday, with their Hollister jackets, and skinny jeans reminded me of certain clothes that I just HAD to HAVE. If I had a satin baseball jacket and San Francisco Jeans I would be IT. The clouds would part and I would be a popular girl. (Yuck.) So, tell me, what clothes did you just have to have when you were 12? 13? Be honest! Don't worry, I have no room to judge anyone ;-> I can't wait to see!

Her work is fantastic! I love the lariats. Thanks for hosting this as always!
ReplyDeleteThat would be Gloria Vanderbilt, Sergio Valente and Chemin De Fer and Sassoon jeans
ReplyDeleteLMAO I went to a Moms Like Me even and they gave me a white sweater. I just said thanks, then looked at my husband with horror and he almost died right in the middle of an expo center. It was covered with grey dust before I made it to the end of the corridor. Hubby also calls me Pigpen.
ReplyDeleteHappy VGNO everyone!!!
ReplyDeleteGotta love those cute little school pictures!
ReplyDeleteI would wear white... unless I'm spending the day with my three year old twin nephews!
ReplyDeleteTGIF and Happy VGNO!
At that age I was happy to not be wearing anyone's hand me downs. I was always fascinated with "Guess" at that age. And now, so is my 13 year old. Apple doesn't fall far from the tree does it?
ReplyDeleteI love the Grace earrings.
ReplyDeleteTweet.

That was really hard to choose a favorite style. I'm having trouble deciding between the cluster and the double loop. I really like the peridot color beads!
ReplyDeleteHi Ann--
ReplyDeleteSorry I won't be making it to the VGNO. I'm not going to be home for the next few Friday nights. I'll miss you guys!
I also wanted to add that "These Are Days" was the theme song to our college orientation, so it has a lot of meaning for me. :)

Oh yay! A giveaway! What a great idea! ;)
ReplyDeleteI love her earrings... the cluster is definitely my favorite. In some sort of purple, of course!
I remember being 13 and DESPERATELY wanting a pair of Guess Jeans. They were $50 back then, and my parents were ABSOLUTELY not going to spend that much money on a PAIR OF JEANS! What they did not realize was that these were not just any pair of jeans, but the absolute most perfect pair of jeans on the planet! My grandma offered to split them so she ended up buying them for me and I wore them with such pride! Still remember how it felt to walk down the hall in those babies. So funny!
Happy GNO! Off to mingle!
Oh, and Tweeted:

ReplyDeleteOh wow, her jewelry is sooooooo pretty, and great prices too!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is the "groupie" earrings. Sooooooooo cute!
Okay, white pants? Do you know how big I am? It'd look like I was wearing a sailboat sail! Okay, I'll admit I do have one pair of white shorts, but I wear my shirts so long that most of it is covered.
Must haves as a teen? My Jordache purple cords, skin tight. Grandma bought them for me. I still remember having that 28 inch waist. Ahhhhhhhh... those were the days! And do you remember those pouchy little purses? Were those Jordache too?
