I don't mind when my girls have friends over. I'm happy that these kids seem to like being here. They're silly and funny and it keeps me on my toes. However, I think I've been making our house a little to inviting day after day and I'm getting burnt out.
After picking my girls up from Sunday School a little friend asked if she could come over. I wasn't surprised. Her parents and I did the nod of "Is it OK? Yea, It's OK" and the girls piled in the van. Then another little friend ran over and asked if they could play as well. Alright. That makes one friend each. That's fair. Come on over.
When we made it into the house the phone was ringing. When my youngest answered I heard her say "Let me ask my mom". Uh-Oh. It seems that a little neighbor friend had a play-date going but they were bored and wanted to come over and have the play-date at our house. I have no idea of what came over me when these words came out of my mouth "Sure!" Am I crazy?!?
I thought we would have a pleasant Sunday afternoon after a typical, crazy Saturday run-around-the-town. Now I had a house full of little girls. Tiaras, Juice Boxes and Tantrums OH MY!
I don't regret it. I want children to play and have fun. Just don't be surprised if you find me in a corner rocking back and forth with a bottle of Valium in one hand and Chardonnay in the other.
**** And guess what? Today I'm up at Beautiful! Fabulous!. "Funny Meeting You Here". (It's about my OB-Gyn. Yup.) I hope you make it over! ****

Try being the only "boy" at that party!
ReplyDeleteI love it when my kids have friends over ... I always wanted my house to be "the" house to be at - kwim?
ReplyDeleteBut one disadvantage ... it's freaking expensive! Holy smokes, feeding these kids can get out of hand sometimes.
I will definitely be that mom one day....house full by day, chardonnay by night!! ;) godspeed girl.
ReplyDeleteOH I have lived this life. Then I just got a smaller house and got rid of the SUV. My kids are still allowed to have friends over...one at a time. But I'm all done with sleep overs and being the neighborhood babysitter. I love that my kids love home but I swear that the parents love my free care and good food for their kids more.....
ReplyDeleteEnjoy that Chardonnay!
See, now this means you're the fun mom with the cool house! That's pretty great. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I'll take some chardonnay and valium on a good day...:)
PS- Hi Guitar Guy!
your house must be the most fun! u are the cool mom!
ReplyDeleteLOL!!!
ReplyDeleteYou are obviously the cool mom on the block!!!
You are the "Kool-Aid" house! Every block has one. Be proud and yes, the wine helps...
ReplyDeleteThe good thing about all the kids being in your house is that you can always keep an eye on them. At least they will be under your care!
ReplyDeleteOur house is often like this I just don't like that it get's into the way of my blogging! LOL!
ReplyDeleteI'll be thinking of you as I throw another homemade brownie down the sink that "Just didn't taste like my mom's!"
Good Luck!
Sounds like fun for the little girls.
ReplyDeleteCan I come over and play too? LOL Sounds like the girls had a blast! And don't worry about the valium, just take an ativan then you can function and won't have to rock back and forth, ROFL!!!
ReplyDeleteSounds like your house is THE PLACE to play! You must buy good snacks, Ann!
ReplyDeleteWait till they become teenagers!
ReplyDeleteYou must be the best mom for them all to want to be at your house! Good going.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like our house. All of the neighborhood kids are always here. Some days it drives me nuts. Others I smile because it reminds me of growing up - everyone always played at our house because they loved my parents - especially my mom. :)
