Virtual GNO - W/O Hubby Edition Continues

*It's the second day* *Don't let it stop you!* *Get your VGNO on!*

Oh boy! My husband has been out of town for 2 weeks now and am I so ready for him to come home! He is with family in Lombard, IL, and it's necessary that he be there. It's just that we miss him very much. (Some of us more than others! ;-> )

So let's get this Virtual GNO started! I need to take my mind off all things related to siblings fighting or someone telling me they're hungry again...and again...and again.

Here's how a Virtual GNO is done; when someone leaves a comment, or sign's Mr. Linky, go visit their blog and leave a comment. When your blog is visited go introduce yourself to your guest. But come back! It's a party! Invite your friends.

Time To Move!

Eric Hutchinson "Rock & Roll"

Time to grab a drink

Today is my dog's 3rd birthday. (Yes, we keep track of these things. Does anyone else do this?) And since Benny is a Chocolate Lab I thought a chocolate drink was in order.

Chocolate Martini
Ingredients:
2 oz vodka
1 1/2 oz creme de cacao, white
Hershey Kiss for garnish
powdered cocoa for rimming

Preparation:
Pour the ingredients into a shaker with ice cubes.
Shake vigorously.
Strain into a chilled cocktail glass rimmed with cocoa.

Hey! Sounds like a winner to me! Let's try it. Let me know what you think.

Party Games

While my husband is away I've noticed that I do somethings differently. I turn the music up a little louder and sing as loud as I want. Dinner may be sandwiches and soup instead of a more formal evening meal. Now my husband wouldn't object to either of these things if he were here, it's just that these are just two of the things that are out of the ordinary. What about you? When your spouse is out of town do you do anything differently? (Go as crazy as you want! I don't mind ;-> )

The Scattered Mind of a Tattooed Minivan Mom has asked fellow bloggers to come up with "Would you rather...?" questions. Here's mine; Would you rather be able to read your husband's mind? Or have him be able to read yours? Go visit her and read more enticing questions.

Party Favor!!!

Now, I don't know if you saw this on Oprah Wednesday but Snapfish is giving away a FREE 8 x 11 Photo Book. They've extended the offer until November 22nd. Go to Oprah.com and click on the link. I started mine yesterday and can't wait to see it!

Now go mingle at our Virtual GNO. When someone leaves a comment, or signs lovely Mr. Linky, go visit their blog and leave a comment. And when your blog is visited, go visit your guests blog. Keep the party going. And invite some of your blog pals!
Come back though, it's a party!

Miss Poodle Perm, That's Me!

Jill of Scary Mommy is doing a linky post about school pictures. You know the ones, possibly you didn't smile a sweet smile, just the smirk of panic. Or you didn't know it was picture day because you had been out sick for a week and you show up in your most comfortable shirt and bed-head. (Yep. That happened to me. The smile was good though!) Well, my scanner isn't working or else I would post a particular picture from Freshman year. Since I don't have a visual, here's the story: I remember my first day of High School. Actually what I remember is the picture taken of me leaving for my first day of High School. I'm wearing a brave smile, but the hair, the hair , my hair style was a nightmare. My two best friends and I were going to be attending a High School out of our district. That was stressful enough. To add to this new-ness we wanted new looks as well. K. was going to sport the Argyle and Alligator shirt look. W. was going for 'All Monogram

My Questions Answered By Chef Pati Jinich - Video

Rob and I have been focusing on finding foods and spices that will help us take some weight off.  I've been slightly obsessed with staying on my exercise track (on week 8 now :->) and hope to get rid of this jiggly belly that has become wa-a-a-ay too comfortable on my body.  The older you get the harder it is to lose weight.  What I would say to my 40 year old self - 'See that pouch starting?  Do your crunches and planks now!  7 years from now it's going to get ugly !' I've found that spices cumin, cayenne pepper, red pepper flakes and turmeric are noted to increase metabolism.  ( Yes please !)  After a good workout coconut water is more beneficial in regulating your electrolytes, and lower in calories, than sports drinks.  It also contains more potassium than other drinks which is an important component in helping to build muscle which, in turn, helps you burn more calories. And my most surprising discovery - eating avocados help burn belly fat! I&#
