Virtual GNO - W/O Hubby Edition Continues

*It's the second day* *Don't let it stop you!* *Get your VGNO on!*

Oh boy! My husband has been out of town for 2 weeks now and am I so ready for him to come home! He is with family in Lombard, IL, and it's necessary that he be there. It's just that we miss him very much. (Some of us more than others! ;-> )

So let's get this Virtual GNO started! I need to take my mind off all things related to siblings fighting or someone telling me they're hungry again...and again...and again.

Here's how a Virtual GNO is done; when someone leaves a comment, or sign's Mr. Linky, go visit their blog and leave a comment. When your blog is visited go introduce yourself to your guest. But come back! It's a party! Invite your friends.

Time To Move!

Eric Hutchinson "Rock & Roll"

Time to grab a drink

Today is my dog's 3rd birthday. (Yes, we keep track of these things. Does anyone else do this?) And since Benny is a Chocolate Lab I thought a chocolate drink was in order.

Chocolate Martini
Ingredients:
2 oz vodka
1 1/2 oz creme de cacao, white
Hershey Kiss for garnish
powdered cocoa for rimming

Preparation:
Pour the ingredients into a shaker with ice cubes.
Shake vigorously.
Strain into a chilled cocktail glass rimmed with cocoa.

Hey! Sounds like a winner to me! Let's try it. Let me know what you think.

Party Games

While my husband is away I've noticed that I do somethings differently. I turn the music up a little louder and sing as loud as I want. Dinner may be sandwiches and soup instead of a more formal evening meal. Now my husband wouldn't object to either of these things if he were here, it's just that these are just two of the things that are out of the ordinary. What about you? When your spouse is out of town do you do anything differently? (Go as crazy as you want! I don't mind ;-> )

The Scattered Mind of a Tattooed Minivan Mom has asked fellow bloggers to come up with "Would you rather...?" questions. Here's mine; Would you rather be able to read your husband's mind? Or have him be able to read yours? Go visit her and read more enticing questions.

Party Favor!!!

Now, I don't know if you saw this on Oprah Wednesday but Snapfish is giving away a FREE 8 x 11 Photo Book. They've extended the offer until November 22nd. Go to Oprah.com and click on the link. I started mine yesterday and can't wait to see it!

Now go mingle at our Virtual GNO. When someone leaves a comment, or signs lovely Mr. Linky, go visit their blog and leave a comment. And when your blog is visited, go visit your guests blog. Keep the party going. And invite some of your blog pals!
Come back though, it's a party!

  3. Hope your husband gets back soon. I agree, it totally stinks not having the Mr in your life around after awhile. Don't get me wrong, at first it is great! I usually watch all the chick flicks I want without worrying about bombs blowing up, espionage, or computer hacking going on in my movie. :)

  7. I'm in! (That's what she said...well, probably what he said). Also, just to be clear, your husband is out of town visiting "family" or "his other family". I just want to know how open you Oregon people are to that sort of thing. See you tonight!

  9. Hi! I'm starting to figure this out. I was so confused last week when I got a couple of comments mentioning "Ann's GNO". Now I get it! I'll go check the blogs right now. ;-)

  14. Steenky's so excited "she said it" twice!

    Checkin in honey bear!

What do I do different when hubby's gone? I'm more lax about cleaning and meals too. Oh yeah, lots of male strippers stop by...when the kids are at school of course.

  17. I'm ready to play and have my drink ready! And when Hubby is gone, we watch movies and eat ice cream and popcorn for supper. Thank God he's not gone much or I would be huge!

  18. I wish I could party but am sick. Props to you for getting through two husband-less weeks. By that time I'm usually down to cold cereal for dinner. Awesome Oprah giveaway. I'm almost done with mine! Drink one for me!

  19. Woo-hoo! Got my par-tay hat on, and chocolate martini drink in hand! YUM! (I think I'd eat half a bag of kisses along with it if I wasn't careful. I LOVES me some chocolate!)
So much to do here tonight. Let's see, what do I do when my husband is away? I eat in bed! I kinda do it when he's home but not all that often since it drives him CRAZY. (I'm a messy eater and get crumbs all over the place.) So I do it to my heart's content.
As for the mind-reading... hoo boy, reading my mind would be a dangerous (and kinda scary) thing so I'd prefer to read his!
Happy GNO... hope hubby gets home soon!
    :) Robin

  20. Stopping back by. I would want to read Hubbys mind. He wouldn't even want to know what all goes on in this head of mine (which is why he chooses not to read my blog).

  21. Hey Girl! I come from the darkside of Baseball..woooo (that is my spooky ghost noise.)

I just got home from happy hour. Since when did happy hour start at 3 p.m. and end at 9 p.m. and include 2-for-1s? Yeah, dangerous.

By the way, in regards to your comment on my blog...uh, the hours are being counted down until November 18. I think my friends are ready for it to be over :P

    Par-tay!
    Jen

  22. Okay, damn it...i am double posting a reply to you. Sure, it may make me seem desperate but well...things need to be said.
1.) I am looking at your last.fm playlist and you have FANTASTIC songs on there (*cough*The Kooks and The Ting Tings*cough*)

Yeah the 3p.m.-9p.m. happy hour almost killed me. I basically skipped to the train. I blame the Absolut Mandarin, Absolut Vanilla and pineapple juice. (which does count for a fruit serving thankyouverymuch.)

    ReplyDelete
  23. Jen,
You ARE my music guru and that means so-o-o much coming from you!
(And I'm sure it has nothing to do with your wonderful Absolut concoctions. ;-> )

  24. I am just now starting to watch Grey's Anatomy! I tried to watch it once a long time ago and I was just so sick of medical shows after living it all day at work. But I needed something new to get into so I asked for the first season and now I love it! I am ready for season two!

  32. How cute you keep track of the dog's birthday. I like to do the less formal dinners too especially since my kids are picky eaters. Btw, I love the name of your blog :)
