Virtual G.N.O - Last Weekend of Summer Edition

Can you believe that Fall is upon us? Officially starting Monday? I'm going to hang-on to summer as long as I can, I'll tell ya' that much!
So let's grab our drinks and listen to some tunes and have a groovy night. And... It's National "Talk Like A Pirate Day". Really. So just envision me writing with an eye-patch on. Arrrr.
Don't be afraid to mingle at our Girls Night Out. When someone leaves a comment go visit their blog and leave a comment. And when your blog is visited, go visit your guests blog. Keep the momentum going.
Come back though! It's a party! You've already given me wonderful ideas for tomorrow night!

Michael Franti and Burning Spear - "Say Hey (I Love You)"

OH YEAH! That's a good tune. Do you have anything you would like me to play. Hey! I'm Ann The DJ! Let me know if you need a particular song for this evening. We'll make it work!

OK. I've got my drink so now it's time to play a game. I've been tagged by dear Blarney at The Blarney Spot.

Here's "The Random 7":

1. Where were you 10 years ago?
Getting settled into my first home and very pregnant with my first child. (I didn't know I was pregnant when we bought the house and I was painting like crazy! It explains A LOT! Oh, my sweet Katie ;-> )

2.) What is on today's to-do list?
Make sure I exercise and get my 2 miles of walking in. I'm preparing for the Race For The Cure this Sunday.

3.) What would you do if you were a billionaire?
Oh geez, well, I'd pay all of my bills. Take care of my moms bills. Travel. Look into what it would take to organize some system to give some to those in need. Then stuff the rest under my mattress! (The way the economy is going.)

4.) Name 5 Places You Have Lived:
Portland
Connecticut
New York
(To Be Determined)
(To Be Determined)

5.) Name 3 Of Your Bad Habits:
Ugh! Creating too much anxiety in situations when it's totally not necessary.
Eating yummy chips, or cheese and crackers, way too late at night.
Not allowing my children to do more. I really need to back-off.

6.) What Are Your Favorite Snacks:
Yellow corn chips and medium hot salsa.
Chex Mix
Ritz crackers with Tillamook sharp cheddar.

7.) Who Will You Tag For This Meme?
All of you!!! I can't wait to read your answers!

Time for a silly, little song

Jill of Scary Mommy is doing a linky post about school pictures. You know the ones, possibly you didn't smile a sweet smile, just the smirk of panic. Or you didn't know it was picture day because you had been out sick for a week and you show up in your most comfortable shirt and bed-head. (Yep. That happened to me. The smile was good though!) Well, my scanner isn't working or else I would post a particular picture from Freshman year. Since I don't have a visual, here's the story: I remember my first day of High School. Actually what I remember is the picture taken of me leaving for my first day of High School. I'm wearing a brave smile, but the hair, the hair , my hair style was a nightmare. My two best friends and I were going to be attending a High School out of our district. That was stressful enough. To add to this new-ness we wanted new looks as well. K. was going to sport the Argyle and Alligator shirt look. W. was going for 'All Monogram

My Questions Answered By Chef Pati Jinich - Video

Rob and I have been focusing on finding foods and spices that will help us take some weight off.  I've been slightly obsessed with staying on my exercise track (on week 8 now :->) and hope to get rid of this jiggly belly that has become wa-a-a-ay too comfortable on my body.  The older you get the harder it is to lose weight.  What I would say to my 40 year old self - 'See that pouch starting?  Do your crunches and planks now!  7 years from now it's going to get ugly !' I've found that spices cumin, cayenne pepper, red pepper flakes and turmeric are noted to increase metabolism.  ( Yes please !)  After a good workout coconut water is more beneficial in regulating your electrolytes, and lower in calories, than sports drinks.  It also contains more potassium than other drinks which is an important component in helping to build muscle which, in turn, helps you burn more calories. And my most surprising discovery - eating avocados help burn belly fat! I&#
