I Scare Myself

I don't know why I did it. I couldn't believe what was coming out of my mouth and I just couldn't stop!
My family was invited to a party you see. The invitation was cleverly made,
delivered by hand and put through our mail-slot. The party was weeks away and I knew that I needed to RSVP, but I never got around to it. (This admission right there sends me over the edge!!!! I always get so P.O.'d when I don't receive RSVP's. And here I was, doing the exact thing I loathe in others! Oh the irony.)
Well, the party day came and went. We didn't attend.
So here we are, the first day of school and I see the wonderful mother who had invited our family to her party. I feel so bad that I come up with this, I don't know WHAT to call it actually, other than a big, fat lie.
This totally made up story came out of my mouth and I just couldn't believe it was happening. Almost like someone had taken over my brain!
The only truthful thing I said was 'I'm so sorry we missed your party.' One sentence out of fifty.
I don't know.
I'm just so weird.

  3. Been there. So done that.
    Don't worry about it.
But next time someone else doesn't RSVP...be kind.

  4. I bet 8/10 people would admit to telling a similar lie!

(and the other 2/10 people can just shut up with their perfect little selves...)

  5. I have done that before too. It is amazing how much faster your mouth can go over your brain!

  6. move over, share the bench... because I have done this before! The road is paved with good intentions, but sometimes there are pot holes! LOL

  7. I have done that...it's totally crazy! The words just tumble out as if an alien entered my brain and moved my mouth. I can actually stun myself for a few minutes after! For some reason the lie seems "nicer" than the truth. We have all been there. That's when I just try to bury that memory deep deep down where it can never be found again...

  8. Well I haven't missed a party yet but fortunately someone called because I had the days mixed up.

Now I'm waiting for people to RSVP to my party. I guess I should try harder if I want others to do the same.

  11. I have to admit, I have done this too. Then walked back to my car and begged Jesus for forgiveness! LOL!! No, we all do this from time to time. Your forgiven...and with time you will forget you even did it! hehe

  13. Been there, done that. Once the words start spewing there is no turning back.

  15. As I age...ugh...I find that I get more and more forgetful yet I'm intolerant of other people who forget things. I've come to realize that we're all human and we all have tried to explain something that we TOTALLY forgot with a little lie.

I'm now starting to be a lot more forgiving when people forget things..because my brain is starting to rot.

It wasn't a lie...you just were embellishing the trut.. ;)

  18. Emily Post, I am not. I am the worst about remembering to RSVP, but the worst at criticizing those who don't!
