HELP! I Need A Girls Night Out!

My children are trying to hurt me. I believe they are trying to crush me from the inside. They're breaking my heart!!!!
**** Insert Elvis Costello's "Peace, Love & Understanding" ****
I don't know how homeschooling mother's do it all year!?! (Is there some club full of libations for homeschooling moms? Something like Costco only with a full bar?)
Tonight I feel that if I have to spend the rest of the summer with these little darlings I think I'm going to pull all of my expensive highlighted hair out of my head!!!

Whew...

Now, let's go in a different direction to put my heart, and spirit, in a better place.

It's Friday Night so let's have a blog party!!!! (Pour the wine. Turn on my Playlist...NOW.)

First let's play a game. "Six Things You Need To Know". This game is being generously thrown in my direction by a personal favorite Tiffany from The R Family Diaries.

Six Quirky Things About Me:

1. While I type at the keypad, if music is playing, I pretend that I'm playing a piano, and singing as loud as my family will allow.
2. I have imaginary interviews with Oprah and Ellen.
3. When I wear a bathing suit I think everyone is staring at my huge thighs and my cellulite.
4. I need to have a window open somewhere in the house. (Kind of like a dog in a car. Air! I need AIR!)
5. I read a lot into everything people say to me. It's not healthy I tell ya'!
6. The relationships I make through my blog truly mean a lot to me. (And no one outside of the blog world will ever understand that.)

Now, "quirky" is subjective. What I think is "normal" just about everyone I know finds "funny" or "quirky". But I have to say... I'd rather be Quirky, with a capital "Q" than anything else.
At this point I should tag people. So let's refer back to #6 and go with that. You know who you are! I expect you to share some quirks with me!

Let's continue this party with gifts!

I received a special gift from Jenn who writes The Peacock's Nesting Place.
I appreciate this so much. I'm truly honored. I'm wearing the biggest smile.

Please visit Jenn's blog. She and her family are returning from living in England and she has wonderful stories to share.

The rules for receiving this award are:
1) Put the logo on your blog.
2) Add a link to the person who awarded you.
3) Nominate at least 7 other blogs.
4) Add links to those blogs on yours.
5) Leave a message for your nominees on their blogs.

Now, I have every intention of doing this. And I will. But tonight, the music must continue!

Time for a Dance Party!!!!!

The Kooks "She Moves In Her Own Way"

That should get this party started. Now, I just need to get the girls in bed, and some of 'mommies juicebox', and I'll be good to go.
This just might need to last all weekend. Would you like to add to the songlist?
Or perhaps a good ol' fashioned mommy rant?

Jill of Scary Mommy is doing a linky post about school pictures. You know the ones, possibly you didn't smile a sweet smile, just the smirk of panic. Or you didn't know it was picture day because you had been out sick for a week and you show up in your most comfortable shirt and bed-head. (Yep. That happened to me. The smile was good though!) Well, my scanner isn't working or else I would post a particular picture from Freshman year. Since I don't have a visual, here's the story: I remember my first day of High School. Actually what I remember is the picture taken of me leaving for my first day of High School. I'm wearing a brave smile, but the hair, the hair , my hair style was a nightmare. My two best friends and I were going to be attending a High School out of our district. That was stressful enough. To add to this new-ness we wanted new looks as well. K. was going to sport the Argyle and Alligator shirt look. W. was going for 'All Monogram

My Questions Answered By Chef Pati Jinich - Video

Rob and I have been focusing on finding foods and spices that will help us take some weight off.  I've been slightly obsessed with staying on my exercise track (on week 8 now :->) and hope to get rid of this jiggly belly that has become wa-a-a-ay too comfortable on my body.  The older you get the harder it is to lose weight.  What I would say to my 40 year old self - 'See that pouch starting?  Do your crunches and planks now!  7 years from now it's going to get ugly !' I've found that spices cumin, cayenne pepper, red pepper flakes and turmeric are noted to increase metabolism.  ( Yes please !)  After a good workout coconut water is more beneficial in regulating your electrolytes, and lower in calories, than sports drinks.  It also contains more potassium than other drinks which is an important component in helping to build muscle which, in turn, helps you burn more calories. And my most surprising discovery - eating avocados help burn belly fat! I&#
