  1. Thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting :o)

Do you like fantasy books? What about "Wicked" by Gregory Maguire? Or his other books - Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister or Mirror Mirror? In case you haven't read any of his books he writes on the other perpective ... such as in Wicked he writed about how the Wicked Witch in the Wizard of Oz became wicked ...

    Hope this helps :o)

  2. Sorry, Ann, but as you may have read-I'm not a reader of books- something I'm sadly ashamed of, but I missed the window to become interested and now I fall asleep maximum of 4 minutes into a book! However, I will try to find time to blog and keep checking in with yours this summer! Maybe I can recommend a good magazine?

  3. If you haven't yet, try a website called Goodreads.com for recommendations and reviews by other book lovers.

I read a lot of heavy, thought provoking stuff but one of my favorite "guilty pleasures" authors is Lisa Scottoline. There's one called "Dirty Blonde" I think, about a female judge and how she has these secret life, etc.

Or there's the Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer (Myer?) that's actually for young adults but a lot of grown ups are getting into it too, much like the whole Harry Potter phenomenon. I got them for my teenager but I'm planning on reading them myself.

  4. Hi Ann,

Mystery type stuff, you could try JD Robb's In Death series - enough there to keep you captivated all summer.

  8. I will second anything by Jodi Picoult. She is awesome. I also love James Patterson. I am reading a book now, Firefly Lane. The author's name escapes me right now. But it seems like a good summer read.

  9. HI Again!
I am starting to think about my own summer picks but haven't gotten to far. I have a couple more books on the shelf to get to before I hit the stores again. Two I have waiting are The Choice by Nicholas Sparks and The Pillars of the Earth b Ken Follett.
    Have a great day!

  10. I'm sure you've already read David Sedaris, but just in case you haven't ANY of his books are great to read.

By the way, I'm Ruth (of rmauppinfamily.blogspot.com)'s sister. I finally got up to Eugene yesterday!

My summer reading suggestion would be anything by Somerset Maugham or Raymond Chandler.

  14. Oh so very many good books are out there!!!!

I second Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett. I've enjoyed a lot of his book. Watership Down by Richard Adams, Sara Gruen's Water for Elephants, Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell, and absolutely anything by Sedaris.

    Enjoy your summer!
