I Blew It! And What The...?!?

So we go to my daughter's softball league end-of-year picnic. (So many people!) As we are trying to find our teams table I see a neighbor, who is also a friend. (Well, we are friendly when we see each other, but we don't call, or hang-out. You know what I mean.)
For whatever reason my neighbor felt comfortable enough to share some deep feelings.
I just wasn't prepared.
I'm surrounded by Little Leaguers, hot dogs and raffle tables and here is a woman needing to talk.
I was pulled away by my oldest and smiled at my neighbor who smiled back and said "I'll catch up with you". But she didn't. It was a busy afternoon.
I didn't see her when we left and I didn't get a hold of her last night.
She's not a close friend, however she reached out to me and I didn't respond the way I should have. What is my problem?
Ugh.
Well, I think this is all very interesting because I'm just finishing up the book "A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose", and I think I should go back and re-read some chapters!
I am going to take this opportunity to share in a game that I was "tagged" for by Nancy at Vellum and At First Glass.
I'm turning to my nearest book, turning to page 123, finding the fifth sentence then posting the next three sentences.
So here we go...
"A New Earth..." E. Tolle p. 123
"Cooperation is alien to the ego, except when there is a secondary motive. The ego doesn't know that the more you include others, the more smoothly things flow and the more easily things come to you. When you give little or no help to others or put obstacles in their path, the universe-in the form of people and circumstances-gives little or no help to you because you have cut yourself off from the whole."
Holy Crap!!!
What?!?
This is no joke. I did NOT plan this at all!
I'm kind of freaking out right now. Hmmm...
I'm going to try and get a hold of her right now.
Would anyone else like to partake in this "tagging"? If so, let me know.
Something cool might happen.

Miss Poodle Perm, That's Me!

Jill of Scary Mommy is doing a linky post about school pictures. You know the ones, possibly you didn't smile a sweet smile, just the smirk of panic. Or you didn't know it was picture day because you had been out sick for a week and you show up in your most comfortable shirt and bed-head. (Yep. That happened to me. The smile was good though!) Well, my scanner isn't working or else I would post a particular picture from Freshman year. Since I don't have a visual, here's the story: I remember my first day of High School. Actually what I remember is the picture taken of me leaving for my first day of High School. I'm wearing a brave smile, but the hair, the hair , my hair style was a nightmare. My two best friends and I were going to be attending a High School out of our district. That was stressful enough. To add to this new-ness we wanted new looks as well. K. was going to sport the Argyle and Alligator shirt look. W. was going for 'All Monogram

My Questions Answered By Chef Pati Jinich - Video

Rob and I have been focusing on finding foods and spices that will help us take some weight off.  I've been slightly obsessed with staying on my exercise track (on week 8 now :->) and hope to get rid of this jiggly belly that has become wa-a-a-ay too comfortable on my body.  The older you get the harder it is to lose weight.  What I would say to my 40 year old self - 'See that pouch starting?  Do your crunches and planks now!  7 years from now it's going to get ugly !' I've found that spices cumin, cayenne pepper, red pepper flakes and turmeric are noted to increase metabolism.  ( Yes please !)  After a good workout coconut water is more beneficial in regulating your electrolytes, and lower in calories, than sports drinks.  It also contains more potassium than other drinks which is an important component in helping to build muscle which, in turn, helps you burn more calories. And my most surprising discovery - eating avocados help burn belly fat! I&#
